Casting Calls

If you're here, you've been invited because I would like you to collaborate with me in one or more of my ongoing projects. All participants will receive a CD of high-resolution images or 2 archival 11 x 14 images of your choice. Some projects include a book, too. All collaborators are also invited to any shows or exhibitions their images may appear in.

I'm looking for collaborators...women who share in the creative experience and who believe in artistic expression. I'm particularly interested in creating images to go with my poetry, and to inspire poetry and writing.

I create art inspired by women courageous enough to be who they really are--vulnerable, strong, innocent, seductive, beautiful, simple, complex--as creative expression that I use in presentations, online and more. 

 

Her Beauty Comes With Demons:Got very good reviews at Fotofest's The Meeting Place, so I am looking for more plus or plus-plus size female models interested in helping me convey in tasteful nude or implied nude images the beauty of you....and, through conversation, have you share with me the demons that come with that beauty.  Candor and visual access is what I'm looking for in this body of work.  Goal is exhibition and/or book(s).

 

Skin: I would like to develop more work around the simple beauty of skin.  Nudes aren't required but I do need models who are willing to provide me visual access to as much skin as possible to inspire images of color, texture, patterns, freckles, etc., etc.  Nude is welcome, as you can expect, though.  Any color, any size, any woman is perfect.  I'm not looking for "perfect' skin either; there is no such thing.  Scars, freckles, stretch marks, etc....all that reveals your humanity is fine with me.

 

Sublime Beauty: I believe beauty resides in the curve of her calf, the twinkle of her eye, the freckles on her chest, the polish on her toes, the dimple in her cheek, the way she holds her hands, the way she smiles, the way she crosses her legs, the way drifts away while looking out the window.  Will you help me show that to the world?

I'm looking for women of all sizes, shapes, ages (>=19) who will simply give me visual access to you.  Images are either tightly cropped differently composed and rarely show all of you.  Many are anonymous.  Look at my folio and web site and my folio at Houston Center for Photography to see what I do and why.  Sometimes images and words go together.

For this work, I need you to be revealing, either with sheer clothing or implied or semi-nude or nude.  The choice is up to you...just let me know.  Almost all photos are taken at women's homes where you have access to your clothes and comfort zones.

Please let me know if you want to allow me visual access to how the sublime of Her beauty is shown in you.  My plan is to use the images on the web, in my presentations, and am seeking exhibitions to show the simple, lovely, sublime, beauty that resides in Woman.

 

Sacred Ground: I'm looking for women collaborators who are interested in participating in one of my ongoing projects in which you will be inspiring images and words by being who you are. 
Anyone 21 or over is welcome.  Any size, shape, color, or spirit.  All I ask is that you give me visual access to you as YOU.  Almost all photos will be taken in women's homes or other venues that speak to who you are.  I appreciate the opportunity to include implied or nude images, but it is not a 100% requirement. 

I call this place where you allow yourself to be you "Sacred Ground," thus the name of the project/folio.  While I like to shoot with some women several times, my basic request is simple:  90 minutes.  Longer is great, but not required. 

This will be going on for quite a while.  I prefer conversations to get to know people better before I decide whether or not to photograph someone for this effort.


The Art of Intimacy: I'm looking for couples to photograph, either identified or anonymously, in order to show in images the art and beauty of touch, proximity, and intimacy. I'm not interested in graphic images or anything that minimizes respect for a couple's bond. Nude or implied nude will be part of the images.

 

Faces of Character: I'm looking for faces with character for a series of portraits that I'm working on. If you want portraits that retouch you to perfection, we won't be working together. I need the real you, 60 - 90 minutes and your willingness to be yourself.

 

Poetry Inspired By You, On You: As a poet, I'm inspired to words as well as images when creating with women.  I have begun a project where the poem you inspire in the moment is written on you (with eraseable marker!), and then I photograph you  with the poem on you.  You'll need to be comfortable being written on and being at least fairly revealing so there is space for me to write.  You can certainly have an unobtrusive person there, or we can arrange a time so my wife can be there....whatever makes you comfortable without getting in the way of the work at hand.  All ages, shapes, sizes and colors are needed. I appreciate participants who want to discuss the project beforehand.

Male-ness: This is a new exploration for me, as I visually try to depict male-ness through face (character and expression) and body (not beefcake). I see these as the defining visual elements of Man and I'm interested in trying to convey that.
