He is barely nine years old, but what he noticed and the message that he understood are timeless.
My son shared with me what his youngster said to him the other day. The little guy said to his father, “I saw this sticker on the back of the truck that said ‘In God We Trust.’ That is pretty encouraging.”
Encouraging, indeed. That trust is a product of faith and hope and is the foundation for living a life with fewer burdens of worries, fear and stress. Worried about bills? In God we trust. Concerned about career moves? In God we trust. Burdened by a bad health diagnosis? In God we trust. As long as the list of concerns can be, longer is the presence of God in our lives.
Life cannot and will not ever be trouble free. Nor will it be toil free. John 16:33 brings us comfort, citing Jesus’ message: “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
Trust in Him. It is, indeed, encouraging. His power is larger than our troubles can ever be.
