I have to wonder aloud how different the world would be if people lived out the message of Luke 12:48 (“… From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.”).

Social media, movies and television celebrate on an individual and society-wide basis things like success, power, riches, talent and so on. There is certainly a lot of that on in our society and for each person.  Each person has been given much – life, for starters – and entrusted with much. The latter can be one’s own talents, money or fame, to name a few. They can also include the talents of others (speaking to leaders and managers here), the resources of businesses or organizations, the beauty and power of nature, the feelings of loved ones, and…  Indeed, we each have been given much, and have been, ultimately, entrusted with more, beginning with things of our own and extending to that over which we have some influence or role in protection or utilization.

Watch movies or television, cruise through social media posts, look around you and you’ll find a celebration (and self-celebration) of so much that could be used for the betterment of the world. Everyone has been given much and entrusted with more…much is expected of us. To fulfill that expectation would be to change the world.
